Update on car shopping.
He wanted me to get the Ford Fusion hybrid-electric. I didn't like it. It's too small.
He went out of town. I researched and found a fabulous deal on a Ford C-Max. It's a nifty plug-in hybrid-electric car. Ford and federal government incentives combined lowered the price by $10,000. Plus an additional $250 off for changing brands. It was for lease only but that's ok. It will have a low residual, so if I decide to purchase it at the end of the lease it will be easy.
Two dealerships in my area still had the car that was featured. The deal was good only until October 3. I chose the dark gray metallic. I have established excellent credit in my name so it was easy. I think hub is actually proud of me.
I'm feeling the green!

Well done Sister Rhapsodee. You are that far in front of me it doesn't matter. - My 1996 Ford Falcon Wagon was showing its' age a couple of months ago, so I figured it was time to "update" (well, my version of "update" !!!) The old girls state of the art features (like cassette tape player !!) and such like and the transmission were giving ominous warnings, so I advertised it locally for $2k. No takers. Lowered it to $1.5k. At $1k I had two "tyre kickers" and that was it. Sold it for scrap value. $200 bucks !!! Geez it was a good car. Owed me nuthin' at the end. - "Updated" to a 2008 Ford Falcon Wagon !!! CD Player !! Wow. Cruise control !! Air Bags !! Traction control !! Gosh !! - Very happy with it thus far. - Downside - my mates always ridiculed the old 1996 banger and unmercifully took the piss out of me about it accusing me of being a skinflint and bringing the tone down when I parked it at their places. Particularly one of my mates who - amongst other things - has this Ford ute with a 6 litre turboed V8 which will reputedly give a hands on demo of Einsteins theory of the speed of light. So the old banger's departure has eradicated itself as a conversation piece.

How's the Ford working out? Can we get a review? "The back seats do indeed fold flat, though the space is a little limiting. It could really use a stiff "sport" mode for the suspension - it, um, rocks easily. Sound system is loud enough to conceal most noises, and the A/C does a good job of keeping the windows unfogged. Note to self: need to add blackout tint to the rear windows."

How's the Ford working out? Can we get a review? Ford C-Max electric review: So far I really like it. It has a lot of pep and handles well. No more fear of changing lanes from stopped traffic and getting up to speed. My other hybrid couldn't do that. It has some nifty perks. I get 84 miles to the gallon. (I haven't received my electric bill yet so I don't know if there will be any savings) I also receive $1500 rebate for the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP). When my registration arrives I can apply for the HOV sticker so I can drive on the HOV lanes. I also received a card for free charging for three years at certain EV stations located up and down the coast. I really like the computer touchscreen. It's easy to quickly find radio stations. The sound system is acceptable. Phone calls come through clearly, no yelling. It connects to my iPhone for GPS. There are many features that are considerate: keyless entry and ignition, the garage door opener on the visor, the blind spot mirrors, a little catch tray between the seat and the door so that when your cell phone or lipstick falls it doesn't slip beneath the seat, lots of little things that make you think "hey, that's a nice little feature". Two minor issues: the high ceiling means that the sun visor doesn't completely block the sun from the side. I solved it by elevating the seat. I'm tall, I wonder what a petite woman would do? The turn radius is annoying. I can't make a U-turn in the street with this car. In grocery parking lot I've had to recalculate my J turns. It's embarrassing to have to reverse and adjust. The plug-in every time I park at home took a bit to get used to, but now it's part of the driving routine. I like the security of having gas!
