LOL. I have been on here a bit recently. Reading up. But not much to say.
I do have an update, though. And I pondered whether or not it belongs in "SM Issues," but realize that it's a direct result of my SM, so here it is:
I got a job! I start in a few weeks. It's an entry level position. The guys who are in charge say that most people in the position usually transition elsewhere in the company within 6-8 months. And they actually liked my resume/skill set. That was a nice confidence boost. After being, primarily, a SAHM for 10 years my biggest concern is my work wardrobe.
How this is update relevant in this topic? The new job will help me secure my exit strategy in a sound financial manner. I'll take a few months to sort out some debt and get a new-ish vehicle (2 of my vehicle's 6 cylinders are misbehaving, even though they were recently replaced). And then I will provide the STBX (eek!) with a proposal (he can choose how we manage the living situation; do we sell house and find our own places, or do we bird nest and leave kids in house, while we rest our heads elsewhere on the days we don't have custody?). I have an electronic draft separation to give him, once we agree on the living arrangements.
I'm an example of a person who took a bit longer to get things moving -- once I realized that everything in my marriage, including sex, is NOT great.
I know it will be tough to transition, but I'm a wee bit excited!

Ones financial stability is a great (and basic) goal to pursue - irrespective of ones marital status.

TMD, this is GREAT news - congratulations on the job! In my town we have a lot of used clothing resale shops. Find one near an upscale neighborhood and that will usually be the sort (brand) of clothes that get donated there. The "best" one here is run by volunteers from the Assistance League (a lot of the big whigs & professor spouses are members and they have high end stuff that really is only gently used). It's higher cost than a Salvation Army but is well worth when you know what it would have cost at Chico's or Coldwater Creek etc. EXCELLENT foundation building for your exit plan!

You should indeed be excited. You mention wardrobe and vehicle, here are two additional boosts in your situation, which depend on financial conditions. Snappy clothes will not only enhance your image in new job, but a big deal for your self esteem. You will perform better. And Grantgeek is right, no need to spend big bucks to look good. Reliable vehicle, pretty good idea to make it to work every day on time. Good for you all around!

Thanks all! Funny GG should mention "thrift shops;" I frequent a consignment store with high end, gently used clothing that is work appropriate. I plan to visit there later this week. I'm also a savvy shopper and get great deals on regular retail. Only challenge is that I am working out (fairly high intensity) and am losing weight/toning. So I don't want to spend on much now anyways. My first week is only 2 days, the next 4. So I will cycle stuff I currently have with a couple new bottoms of some sort. Other challenge is that I like my clothes. So hopefully I can be smart live with basics.
Have been busy getting things organized, and kiddos go back to school soon, so trying to end their summer with fun activities too.
I appreciate this group, even though I'm only here sporadically. Without having found ILIASM 3.75 years ago, I would probably still be floundering. Or thinking I have to stay in this "deal" because I committed to it. Feeling like I will be able to breathe fully soon.
