I would say it depends on if I want to wallow or feel better. Sometimes I just want to be in it. I will cry, curl in a ball, eat too much, etc. That is wallowing. If I am ready to combat it I will call a friend and vent, journal, go for a walk, dance. My crappy coping mechanism of choice is marijuana. But like h I am responsible about it.

Question for today- When you are upset or sad, what do you do to make yourself feel better? Sometimes it helps me to get lost in a good movie

Question for today- When you are upset or sad, what do you do to make yourself feel better? I find being outdoors is helpful. Whatever is making me sad is placed in perspective, and the sensory benefits of being outdoors lifts my mood. Sunshine and wind on my skin, the sounds of birds and smell of the sea make the nonsense of life less terrible even for a short while.

Question for today- When you are upset or sad, what do you do to make yourself feel better? I have built up a pretty well equipped garage gym that is my happy place. So I just queue up a good music playlist and start sweating it out. Of course, I do this when I'm not upset, too.

Yes, I agree with this...especially right now on the west coast...spring is happening with all of the great smells.

When I’m sad or upset I usually turn inward and try to block out the world- it’s a very bad way to be. I would seek affection and comfort from a loved one if they were available and present (which my husband is not). I’d also cuddle with my puppy if he were still here with me. So, during the moments of sadness I’ve been experiencing over the past several days, I’ve been somewhat at a loss. I’m really working hard not to break down and start looking for a new puppy. So- everyone- please remind me of the reasons why that would not be a good idea right now.

So- everyone- please remind me of the reasons why that would not be a good idea right now. I remember when I was single...I wanted a dog...got a little puppy from a shelter...I lived alone and after the first night, I realized I made a mistake...puppy crying all night long. I had to work so I needed to make arrangements for someone to watch her...ended up adding a lot of stress that I didn't need. Fortunately, my brother and his wife were looking for a dog and they took him. Remember the feelings of sadness are fleeting...don't make a decision that commits you to something longterm to just to help you in the short term. Hope that helps.

Thank you for your comment firefollower. My perspective is much better this morning and I know I need to wait for a while before getting another puppy. I wouldn’t be able to put a young pup through the stress of all the changes I’ll be making within the next several months!

I’m running out of questions!! Question for today- who is your celebrity crush? To be honest, I would be hard pressed to think of one. Literally nobody sprang to mind, and after scrolling a list of popular actress names and faces, I still can't think of one I would consider having a crush on. I can't separate a person from their actions and the tendency of many Hollywood stars to stick their noses into politics is very off-putting to me, especially considering their hypocrisy in many of their views. I won't break it down into specifics because that would lead into topics of discussion not appropriate for this forum but suffice it to say, I don't have celebrity crushes.

who is your celebrity crush?
No celebrity crushes. Most things that are not attainable in real life I don't bother wishing about. With celebrities, how does one determine what is real or what is acting?
People I respect, some of the past and current popular scientists and medical research people come to mind. even the ones that never became popular if they contributed to the knowledge base.
