Some TV stations came on around 3 or 4 PM and went off again after the 10PM news.
Sadkat, you for got to ask which radio programs did you listen to before you had TV. The Lone ranger, The Shadow, Amos 'n' Andy, Fibber McGee and Molly, Jack Benny, Great Gildersleeve and more. The biggest shocker was The War of the Worlds (radio drama) that was rebroadcast 15 after the original broadcast. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_War_of_the_Worlds_(radio_drama)

So, I am going to list lots of shows the majority of you are unfamiliar with! I loved Playschool, Mr Ben, Bagpuss, Bod & The Wombles. I can’t remember the name of the cartoon with Seamen Stains and Master Bates? Can carl mescaline or lessingham help me out? Were you all clueless at the time too? Oh and who didn’t love Scooby Doo and Seseme Street?

I wasn't big on cartoons as a kid. So it was Hop a Long Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Lash Larew, Sky King, Superman, The Green Hornet, Gun Smoke, The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, Boston Blacky, The Cisco Kid, The Lone Ranger, and The 3 Stooges just to name a few.

Question for today- What TV shows did you watch when you were a kid? 70’s kid here, back when color TV was just arriving on-scene, and all 3 stations turned off their programming late at night. Saturday morning cartoons were a hit... Roadrunner and Pink Panther were favorites, partially because they didn’t have dialog. Disney on Sunday nights. Lots of great black and white shows on during the day if I was home from school. Lassie, Flipper, Rat Patrol, Munsters, Addams Family, Ironside, Twilight Zone, LOTS of old war movies, detective shows, and mystery movies (a la Agatha Christie, Hardy Boys). Gilligan’s Island, MASH, Happy Days, Magnum PI, and a nerdy favorite... Whiz Kids. I really enjoyed the live family comedy era with Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, etc., especially when they couldn’t keep from busting out laughing in the middle of a skit. Mary Tyler Moore, Dick van Dyke, Lucille Ball. Hmm. That was quite a trip down memory lane, and I know I’m missing a bunch!

You all continue to surprise me! I didn’t think yesterday’s question would generate much response. What a pleasant surprise to see that I was wrong! I’m impressed with your memory as I couldn’t remember what I watched growing up- until I saw your posts! The only other show not mentioned that I now remember watching is “Little House on the Prairie”.
