I am still floundering about at the starting gate of this thread about President Tyler and his lineage and the ability of old blokes to have a root.
There was this old bloke (98) in my jurisdiction, about 10 years ago who got married to this chick (looked very much like a 'mail order' deal to me) and duly impregnated her. It was all over the media at the time. But like most salacious stories and events, once a few experts had given him a cooking for being an irresponsible old prick, and others had had a crack at the notion of the kid not having a father for long, and still others bagging out the chick for money grubbing, it all passed in to history.
I guess that real old blokes are outliers in the social demographic. But within these outliers there would be a few who can still crack a fat, and produce viable tadpoles. For that matter there's probably a few old blokes who can still crack a fat, but shoot blanks - and they are probably cutting a swathe of through the old chicks at the nursing homes. I certainly hope so !!

I had my son at 42, and I think I got him in under the radar. Even if I could get my vasectomy reversed, I don’t know if I would have the energy required to raise a child.
But I am glad I had mine. We have a lot of fun together and tease each other mercilessly. This past weekend, we were racing each other in go-karts. He does keep me young, even when I want to be old.

My mom and dad were 42 and 44 respectively when I was born. I'm an only child. I would just say that when older people have children, I think it can work if they make an effort to think like parents of average ages. If not it can be very disconcerting for the child. I've noticed that I tend to think more like people who are 10 to 15 years older than I am. That's probably due to my parent's ages.

Some of us know we are too old, and it has nothing to do with chronological age. Good to see you back Caris. Thanks Jim. 😊

I am nearly 60 and helping raise a 4 year old granddaughter. I love her as much - if not more than my own. But it takes a lot of energy to keep up with her!
