I keep reading the posts and listening to the songs and it strikes me how different are the musical tastes of the members here. And yet we frequently cross paths with artist or songs we like. I have always enjoyed Bill Wither's Grandma's Hands and Metallica's version of Whiskey in the Jar as presented on this thread.
Tonight I will post a song by an artist who was taken from us way too soon. I found in difficult to choose just one of her songs so I selected the one I heard first that led me to her.

This one is a bit long, but it is the second best song on the album ;-)

And this one's even longer, but worth every penny. It started out as a bourbon and Cure night. But somehow I always go back to Neil.

Once upon a time, I used to do a bit of Salsa and Merengue. Nothing like this though.
Who wants to go dancing with me?

Actually, it all started for me with the swing craze of the mid to late 90's. Charlotte had one of the best swing clubs in the country during that time, Swing 1000, and we all took a few lessons among my group of friends in high school. From there, it was a salsa club called Salamandra that we used to sneak into (the bouncer had a crush on one of my best friends), followed by another club when I was stationed in Charleston- dated and danced with the hostess there for a while. Didn't keep up with it in Norfolk, though I wish I had. Went to Cafe Sevilla and Blue Agave many times in San Diego. And caught a couple of Latin nights at Kadan and Air Conditioned. Good times. I'm rusty as all get-out now, but I'd like to get back into it. However, the wife and I are utterly incompatible as dance partners- found that out getting her lessons for our first dance. Protip: don't choose a waltz in a 6/8 time signature as your first dance at your wedding, unless you're both dancers or at least musicians. Or at least willing to practice together. Haven't done much country-western dancing. However, ever been to InCahoots? Used to go there for College Night every week, because fish in a barrel. Never really got into the line dancing though, even though I grew up with my dad working at a country music station. Actually, maybe that's because of growing up with my dad working in a country music station...

Never really got into the line dancing though, even though I grew up with my dad working at a country music station. Actually, maybe that's because of growing up with my dad working in a country music station... Actually, I have lived in Norfolk and Charleston as a kid (Navy brat)! Actually, I am going to In Cahoots tomorrow night(to practice for the wedding) with some friends if I can still fit in my Shit-kicking boots! It is the only close Country dance bar close to my house. The floor is really too small, and I like to go to other dance spots because In Cahoots can be a zoo with all the line dancers. The Blue Agave used to be called "Wranglers Roost", and I loved that club, its funky floor shape, and after my divorce in the early 90's, it was like shooting fish in a barrel for me! Unfortunately, I am currently married to one of the fish I shot there. :-( Lousy effing shot. It is funny though, the wife is a really good dancer, better than me, but we have always danced poorly together. Our problem is, if you know my wife, she always wants to lead! God I hate that! I really should have known better. The other big clue was; I took her to Kauai, and you know those kayaks you rent and paddle as a couple? We could not fucking do that! Unbelievable! Everyone waiting for us and me doing all the work. I am a pretty crappy latin dancer but I use my 2-Step and West Coast Swing moves and I just fake it. Damn, I/we are going to take some shit from the girls about this post?? Anyway, good shooting cagedtiger

Erasure always makes me think of Simon Bates. Don't ask me why - some kind of weird association going on there!
