I’ve reached out to Admin offline to see if he’s still above ground. We have contingency measures in case that happens, but until then he is the only admin. I last heard from him 2 months ago. It seems the annual fee to Proboards did not get paid for the vanity domain name attachment, so the board has reverted to the original freeforums.net URL. For the sake of everyone who has bookmarked threads, we do want to get that fixed. One way or another, we’ll get this sorted out and get some new moderators setup, since the originals have ridden off into the sunset. The base level forum you’re seeing now is free, so it won’t be going away, but it does have room for improvement and we’ll work on that. jerri isthisit saarinista Handy worksforme2 mirrororchid What would it take to get the vanity domain back? Proboards charges a small annual fee to attach a domain name to the forum, probably around $25. And people donate credits to offset forum costs like disabling the banner ads. Maybe that well has run dry, or maybe it just isn’t getting applied. I think it was a manual process.
If I have to exercise the admin recovery measures, I’ll share more details then. I’ll give it another day to see if I hear back. At least his name isn’t showing up in obituaries!

Can we get in touch with the original people who set it up? A shame that we can't get the original site. ModHatter ModCasper ModDharma@modlily@modpanther Admin Go Daddy sites: Can it be paid by members? I sincerely apologize for overlooking this. FYI, while the domain name is auto-renewed, I found out that there is a separate fee to "ProForums" (our host site) to USE that name for our forum. I put enough coins in the meter for us to keep us running for another five years. Thank you to ModHatter who used the secret bat-signal we established years ago to get a hold of me in just such emergencies. I want to let you know that I've started discussions with the [remaining] mods about finding some new recruits to serve as moderators. I'll post more on that soon. |
