My church is having a mass tomorrow for the US election. Not for any result, but for the hope of a peaceful dsy and a peaceful result. I love The USA and the sight of it tearing itself apart is awful. I wish you all a peaceful result. If not, I have space in my garage and a spare bedroom. (the room is for young nympomaniacs who own a brewery, naturally). Stay safe, be safe

Lol, I am first in line for your basement! I am embarrassed to call myself an American.💔
I have a pretty good English accent so if I travel I will be using it!

Lol, I am first in line for your basement! I am embarrassed to call myself an American.💔 I have a pretty good English accent so if I travel I will be using it! But you'll need a British passport to go with the accent, Jerri! (Or New Zealand, Australian or Canadian). Ironic that I have one of those and no intention to ever climb into an airplane again. I'd lend it to you but I expect you look nothing like I do {grins}.
Well, I think we live in one of the better places to live in. No reason to leave.
Two old SF books describe today's world with painful accuracy: "Stand on Zanzibar" by John Brunner and "The Marching Morons" by Cyril Kornbluth.

lessingham- thank you for your well wishes. I love my country and am very proud to be a US citizen. So many fine young men and women fought and died for the privilege we now have to disagree and fight. To protest and loudly state our opinions. It may seem as if we are being torn apart but I have faith that we will come together and fight as one if our way of life is ever threatened. I will not be taking you up on your offer but I do appreciate the intent behind it.

I love my country and have served it in the military but I’m now a permanent resident of Mexico because I feared the results of the last presidential election. Friends thought I was overreacting but since then I have been proven right.

For me, I don't worry about who becomes president. My concern is the lobbyists and special deals made we DON'T HEAR about. Which organization has their finger on the scale to tip the outcome in their direction? What is/are the "Five Eyes" really doing? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_EyesNumber two embarrassment are the TV commercials for bogus junk like losing weight and enhancing ones sexual powers or attractions. Along with that are the TV commercials for car insurance that will save you hundreds of dollars. Next are the over priced pillow commercials. No thanks Mike, my $15 pillows work just fine. I don't need to pay $78 for about the same results. Number three, why do 38 or more companies have the right to follow me on the Internet? What ever happened to privacy? I voted by mail but feel like a kid in a grocery cart that has a steering wheel. I know the steering wheel is not really connected to anything but I turn the steering wheel and hope it results in something I wanted.
OTH, the +8F weather in my area a week ago is now near 60F so I am happy.

Sadly ,you get inundated with fake, negative news, from a 'one sided' ( 85% vote democrat www.bizpacreview.com/2019/02/19/cbs-news-reporter-lara-logan-the-media-85-dems-have-become-propagandists-and-liberal-activists-725319) news media. I remember seeing this with my own eyes and ears when I visited China to adopt my children. It was sad to find out what the people on the street in China believed about America. The 'tearing apart' that you see is a small minority. A minute% of America. Not a clear representation of the majority of rural america. The silent majority. Life goes on ,pleasantly, for the vast majority of America. Thank you for your prayers! Peace be with YOU!! In the name of the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, Amen!

greatcoastal you are wrong about thenewsmedia. I was a working journalist for several medium market TV stations and I woulld say half of my former colleagues were very conservative. In fact of the few people I've blocked on Facebook they are all former working journalist colleagues. And none of these were Fox Affiliates. we're talking ABC and CBS. If you want to know what reality is, read the New York Times And The Washington Post. Fox News is propaganda for the right. CNN and MSNBC can be somewhat slanted to the left but are largely neutral and mainly sensationalistic. I'm trying not to be proud, but humble. Our world is hurting. Those of us who are happy are fortunate. We need to reach out to those who are not doing as well. I do my best to listen and help those who are hurting. Sometimes that includes me; sometimes that's others. No labels, just facts.

People will believe whatever the TV tells them to believe. This has never been more apparent than the year 2020. My fellow drivers and I call it the "sheep mentality". On a side note: I see it daily when I travel hwys. The speed limit is 70 mph. My rig is governed to do 70 mph. I come up, gaining speed on a car in the right lane doing 65mph. I pull into the left lane and start to pass that car. Right when my rear trailer wheels are about to pass the side of the car.... guess what happens? They speed up! and start doing 70mph!! This goes on for miles! I slow down to 65 mph. The car passes me. I slow down to 60 mph, to put a mile between us. (get that dangerous driver away from me- defensive driving skills) I then pick my speed back up to 70 mph. They have slowed down to 65 mph. I pass them in the left lane. My rear trailer wheels are about to pass the side of the car......it all starts over again? Like sheep. The same thing when there's an accident. Roads clear, nothing to see. lets go people! They all slow down to keep looking because the rest of the cars beside them are going slow too! A mile of clear open interstate in front of them.

And the WA Post was one of many rags claiming the now debunked Russia collusion was truth, among many other biased pieces. Meanwhile, while FOX did used to lean far right, they have been slanting left in most areas since Suzanne Scott took over. Journalism is dead. It's never been more important for people to do their own homework. One thing I agree on is the need for unity. But until people start thinking for themselves (not singling out any party), there will be none.

I've held public office before, and had family members run for public office. I/we have our own facts that the media chose to not correct. Simple things, like the name of our employer. I could go on...... but I really, really, really, don't want to. ESPECIALLY with you!!! I LOVE talking with you, and I pray for you, and think of you often- everytime I read this sight (daily). YOU are just the kind of person that I could easily put my political views aside for and have a wonderful time with!!

Everyone- Please press pause on this. This is not the place to argue politics or air grievances. I see us as a huge family. Each of us are carrying a heavy burden. Let’s please be respectful of one another and leave the arguments elsewhere. 💕.
