mirrororchid, what I see is the state would have to help the mother get child support and if the sperm donor wasn't found then who pays to help raise the kid/s? A lot of decisions come down to money. Another way to look at it is "what if you were the child?" Would you be upset losing the father you thought you had and his financial support? This comes close to why I was reluctant to be sexual before I was about to get married. Did I want to be a dad=no. Did I want to be a pregnant GF=no. Did I want to be the fetus=no. Did I want to get married to my pregnant GF and maybe argue about having to get married 5 or 10 in the future=no. I saw all this happen starting in high school and decided with me working to support myself and my mother my plate was full for a while, or until I met the woman/mother of my 4 kids and had some money to carry out that plan. That actually took a couple of years later but the kid thing stopped at two.
Free sex? Yes for many but not for all.
Some girls swallow water melon seeds when the guy or the gal isn't looking. Reality=girls get pregnant.
The Jerry Springer and Muury Povich TV programs are good examples of "who is the daddy."

The state pays, just like with single moms. Of course, identifying the absent fathers would greatly benefit society. Maybe a much higher assistance level if the father is fingered. Should the child be upset with the father for leaving? Maybe. But where does the blame truly lie? He was just some sap his/her mom roped. The child's biological parents were/are unprepared for parenthood. A dad who was capable of supporting his kids should have some. He can't if he's saddled with irresponsible people's babies on his charitable dime. These decisions are truly reckless for functioning society. Mandatory, legalized fraud. To our knowledge, these single moms have sex with their saps. What if it's an SM? DO the judges change their mind then? I wouldn't bet without generous odds.

A woman my age that I know has a white daughter with kids fro 3 different black players. The daughter refuses to give the names of the potential dads because they were super nice to her, she got PG and then the men dumped her. In some communities men brag about how many women they got PG.
The girl inherited property she hasn't been able to sell in one state, lives in a distant state and grama in the 3rd state is raising one of the kids.

IMHO, men who carelessly have unprotected sex with fertile women should be every bit as responsible legally for any resulting offspring resulting as the woman.
I don't see any other way it can be. If I was a man I would never trust a woman who said she was using birth control. Use a condom/spermicide and be careful who you sleep with that's my advice-or be prepared to raise a child.

Sex can be pretty costly even if you have a fairly unlimited budget. Some decades ago someone with too much time on their hands did a calculation of what it cost Aristotle Onassis, based on monies left in his will, for any sex they may have had with Jackie. The writer made the assumption that they had sex at least once every day they were together. It worked out to $63,000 each time there was the potential for the act to have occurred. That's some pretty high dollar leg.

I'm pretty sure Onassis didn't marry Jackie for sex. I'm pretty sure the reverse is also true.
Let's face it: there is more to marriage than just sex. If all you want is sex you don't have to get married. In fact, as all of us can attest, presumption of sex is not a great reason to get married.
Unless there is a prenuptial agreement to the contrary, civil marriage is a legal contract involving certain fiduciary rights and obligations. That's it. Enter at your own risk.
