Hi, all. Just wanted to mention why I've been off the Forum lately.
I was scrubbing my deck (a common theme in my life) about two and a half months ago using a mixture of bleach and trisodium phosphate. Pro tip-these substances are effective and extremely slippery.
It was hot and about 95% humidity as well, and I was really exhausted. You know the deal-somehow, I slipped and fell flat on my face-almost. "Fortunately," my hands got in the way. Unfortunately, my attached wrists buckled. One broke while the other was severely sprained.
OMG. Extremly. Blinding. Pain!
Try to avoid letting this happen to you.
Adding to the pain is the fact that I don't have good insurance, so it took me a couple weeks to find an orthopedic surgeon. (I ended up going to one who doesn't accept my insurance so I'm paying out of my pocket, but I couldn't get a call back from anybody on my plan.) Little did I know that they do not do casts in the emergency room.
Anyway it's been a very long, painful and itchy cast 2 and 1/2 months. But the cast is finally off and I'm back to splints, lidocaine patches and Tylenol. Although I'm still sore, I can do some typing and mobile device holding now so as to be on the forum much again. And I can blow dry my hair, too, which is a major step forward.
I will say my husband was quite helpful during my convalescence. No sex, of course, but he did keep me fed, medicated and doctored, which I appreciate.
So, although I'm still moving more slowly than usual, things are getting back to normal. However, the doctor said my wrist will be swollen for another three and a half months. I was shocked that a slip and fall on a deck could be such a big deal.
Anyway I just wanted to tell those who didn't know why I've been missing. Thanks to those who checked in with me. I'm getting caught up on people's situations.
I've made no progress on my SM during my deal, but who knows if I would have made any regardless? Sigh. I'm in awe of those of you who are progressing more quickly. Everyone's situation is different, THOUGH, and I'm not going to beat myself up with a semi-healed wrist.
And a final reminder-cleaning solutions and hard surfaces can be dangerous. Ugh!
