I finished the bunk bed for grandsons today. Yes, IKEA would have been cheaper but this is much better built. I use Red Oak with a satin polyurethane finish. The kids are quite happy with their new bed.

The kids are quite happy with their new bed. That is fantastic. Better built and your grandsons can say their grandfather built it from scratch just for them.

That looks great. I like the way you laminated the planks together - I have never seen one like that!

Is it going to fit through their bedroom door? The 4 sides bolt together so they go in 1 at a time. However, the house has a landing and a turn on the stairs to second floor. The long sides would not fit up the stairs. I took them through a window above the front porch.
