Your question for today: What’s getting worse and worse as you get older? What’s getting better and better as you get older?
The only thing that's getting worse is my eyesight.
Better and better, my ability to say no.

Your question for today: What’s getting worse and worse as you get older? What’s getting better and better as you get older? Worse: My ability to stomach Long John Silver's pseudo-chicken planks. I love them...but damn, my stomach, not so much anymore. Better: My weight. Finally up to 159 lbs, my heaviest weight ever, which means a lot being plagued with an OCD eating disorder.

Better= weight loss and saying what is on my mind.

I’ve debated asking this question and sharing my pain. I’ve realized I would benefit from your support. How do you handle grief? Today, I’m facing the difficult task of euthanizing my beloved dog. He came into my life at just 8 weeks old and I’m sending him over Rainbow Bridge a few days short of his 15th Birthday. I was 5 years into my SM when he came into my life. He has been my constant companion and has given me unconditional love and devotion. My heart is broken over having to say goodbye. My h and I will say goodbye to him together and will support one another in our grief. At least we can give each other that. If you are the praying type, please include me in your prayers today. If you are not, any positive thoughts and words of comfort would be appreciated. I handle grief by turning into myself and processing the pain on my own. You may not hear from me for a few days as I struggle to accept my loss. I read a good story today about a dog being a man's best friend, and I thought about you! How are you coping? How is your recovery going? Allow me to say, that dealing with the grief of losing your dog , can be a good thing. It will prepare you for the grief that will come, for the day of divorce. You may not feel as much grief towards ending your marriage, as you did saying goodbye to your beloved pet. Let's face it... a pet is a great comforter, full of affection through touch, loves to share happiness with us, protect us, seems to really know us, and is an endless source of giving. You may want to wait to get another pet, until after you and your H separate. That way their's no sharing of the pet. ( That's what my ex and I do) We exchange children, one week on, one week off, and the dog is with the kids all the time.

Thank you, greatcoastal, for checking on me. It was truly a heartbreaking day when I said goodbye to my dog. For the most part, I am doing much better. Every once in a while, I’ll remember something that makes me very sad! These days, I keep busy expanding my social circle and taking some solo trips. Your advice is sound- I’m not planning on getting another dog until I’m separated and in my own place. To reach that goal, I need to put my house on the market. I’m working on that now- it’s been quite the challenge with my h being in denial!

Many of them seem like you are going uphill and riding into the wind? And yet it's those difficult journeys that can give us the best rewards!! To thine own self be true!

I bought an electric starter for my 25 year old snow thrower.
It used to take me 20 minuets to start it when the temperature was below +10f using a heat gun/hair dryer to warm up the engine and using starting fluid along with 50 pulls on the starting rope. I changed the oil to 10W synthetic, I replaced the carburetor with a new one and even rebuilt the old carburetor and it didn't start any better. When it gets down to -10f / -23c I don't even try to start the beast. With the electric starter, the dual stage beast starts in 5 seconds.

Question for today: What’s the best thing that happened to you last month? Last month we spent a week in Myrtle Beach SC. Temperatures were only in the 60's and 70's (~15-23 Celsius) but it was still 40-50 degrees warmer than home. Felt like hot summer days compared to the snow storms we left.

The best thing that happened to me last month was taking a solo vacation. I learned a lot about myself- what I liked and what I could do without. Making my own decisions was very empowering as well! I’m looking forward to another solo adventure soon!

Question for today: What’s the best thing that happened to you last month? A road trip adventure with great conversation. Trying to appreciate that even though it was a chilly 55°, we were still a heckuva lot warmer than other parts of the country!

I took a trip to a developing country with my teenaged children and my mother. I watched them all discover the chaos, sights, sounds and smells of a world they didn’t know existed. We ate in local cafes, travelled by Tuk Tuk and interacted with many locals who talked about their lives and were interested in ours. The kids learnt to barter! Most importantly, we made memories across 3 generations of my family which I hope will be told to future members yet to exist, so mum can be pseudo present in their lives too as she is a cool lady.
