@dan. Thank you so much for sharing.
Bipolar is like a life prison sentence with no parole. The thought of spending your entire life in such pain causes more pain. You will never get out, you are caged forever with a brutal prison guard that rewards you and then slaps you down.
Our son was sent to the trauma center for evaluation. We all sat together in a session with the clinician, then she interviewed our son for about an hour. She determined that he was OCD. They think that the OCD needs to be brought under control so that he can better benefit from the management of his bipolar. Due to his social anxiety and how difficult it is for him to become comfortable with people, he chooses to stay with his current therapist. My instincts tell me he needs to change to someone that specializes in OCD, but his father wants to allow him to choose.
He is back in school for the summer and will only attend outpatient therapy on Friday's. He sees his therapist on Fridays too, so he comes home mentally exhausted.
The good thing about the OCD diagnoses is he has something he can fight and conquer. He is curiously optimistic.
Thank you for your support.
