Just learned this about flowmax, the prostate medication my ex was on. I guess he was telling me the truth when he said I was not the problem. “ It affects hormones like testosterone and actually shrinks your enlarged prostate. The most common side effects of this drug include: impotence, or trouble getting or keeping an erection. decrease sex drive.”

I don't know about Flowmax but I take Finasteride for a previously enlarged prostate and urine retention. If the prostate is large enough it clamps off the urethra and you can't empty the bladder so you have to pee more often and never empty the bladder. The alternative to drugs are what I heard as using radio waves to burn the prostate and I know guys that had that done and they are not happy about their lack of a sex life and ED problems. I can now pee better and the drug does make erections take longer. It might have decreased my hornieness but most of that drive is in the mind. I hear anti depressant drugs doing about the same thing (reducing sex drive), but a guy has to pee, so taking Finasteride seemed like the least likely bad choice. I also have less semen spurt out upon orgasming. The prostate made the semen come out but with a shrunken prostate, that device doesn't work like it used to. Where do I sign up for it? If it reduces the desire I'm all in.

Thoughtt I would chime in here. I’m also one of the lucky ones with an enlarged prostate. Take flowmax, definitely helps, but , yes,, does have sexual side effects. I had a procedure about a month ago where a ‘stent’ type device is placed in the constricted part of the urethra which then enlarged the urethral passage. Seems to working great, although I am still on flowmax. It is an experimental procedure at this time, device will be removed after 6 or 12 months (dunno yet which group I fall into), not looking forward to that though, at first after the procedure I was peeing blood big time, was all hardly able to ‘hold’ in the urge to pee, normally straight after getting up from sitting or lying down the urge to go is hardly controllable. It is improving though, next checkup will be in 6 months so I am presuming I will be in the 12 month group. As,far as sexual side effects go, hard to tell. With our current lockdown cannot pursue outsourcing options so mrs Palmer and her 5 daughters are my best friends currently. I I am experiencing dry orgasms too most of the time. If I hold off for a few days I will ejaculate somewhat normally, although not exactly porn star money shots 😎

Sidebar. I am doing way too much deck staining because I saw "flowmax" and immediately thought it was paint thinner! 😬🤣

Catlover, I agree, no money shots or creampies.
Being able to pee seems to be more important than a money shot. I also had to resign that just feeling like I had to pee, I better take a pee break and not try the hour long delaying tactics I used to do back when I was 35. Now I consider 3 to 5 minuets as a good time to take care of business. After that accidents might happen.

I'm a big fan of medical procedures that do a single thing and so few drugs do that. Biochemistry shouldn't be messed with if something simpler and effective is around.

Seemed to have a bit of a setback, hardly peeing at all the last couple days, quite concerned, have an appt at Toronto western hospital with the urologist tomorrow morning to check things out. I saying that, had a jerk off this morning and ejaculated more than I have in a long time (went all over the place 🤣), peeing after that was back to a dribble and then a few minutes ago had a great pee, so I am fucked if I know what’s going on. Hopefully everything is ok. I should also add that with the meds I am on I don’t get much of a boner, but by taking myself in hand the goal can still be reached

After an orgasm urine flow seemed to increase for me. I got down to a dribble a few times but went back to fair flow, but I was on Finesteride at the time. Liquids, sugar and caffeine all played a part in the flow and urgency picture
Catlover, do get checked out.

Went to see the surgeon this morning, had ultrasound etc done, all good there, urinalysis and bloodwork done. (possible bladder infection also suspected) I was told by the doc to double up on the one med called "Rapaflo" (not FLowmax as I thought). Just looking though my meds and realized it isn't in my med bag. We spent the weekend at the trailer and I must have left it there by mistake. Makes perfect sense now as the symptoms started on Monday.. Feel like an absolute idiot now. On the plus side it shows how well that med works

Also explains why I ejaculated far more profusely than I am accustomed to of late, couple of the side effects below
