Reminded of the Christmas song by Greg Lake, be it heaven or hell, the christmas you get you deserve. Same with birthdays. The choices I make or don't take give me tbis birthday. So........ 2020 will be a year of the difficult choices and tbe roads less travelled!
My birthday this weekend. She booked us in a city I have never wanted to see, after rejecting all my suggestions. Apparently my son wants to go there. She has forgotten to book a birthday meal. There is no parking at the accommodation. She has booked no treats. There will be no sex (strange bed, strange place , son in next room, people will hear etc). Today she is paying to have her hair cut, 100 quid. I am so desperately nailing on a smile. Yesterday she announced she wants Venice for her birthday. I long to kiss her at the airport as she flies off to Venice and I catch a plane to Pattaya. Worth it for the look on her face!
Venice? 100 quid hairdos? I guess we know why she stays in the marriage.
What if you offered to send her to Pattaya on your birthday AND Venice on hers, you get to stay home both times. Same cost, but more peace.
Either that or plan your birthday well in advance and have the web site send itineraries to you both. Done deal. Something you'd be willing to budget for. Simple. Maybe short in duration if that's your preference. Stay local if that makes the most sense. Making your birthday a second celebration for her is gobsmackingly rude. Not even pretense there.
A joke I heard at work once: "Why is divorce so expensive?" "Cuz it's worth it."

worksforme2: some better and some worse,..virus seems to be slowing down, but people are beginning to refuse to stay inside,...worst thing I see is Biden leading in the election poles,...but that could be fake news

mirrororchid: Politics? Is that what we want to happen here?
Apr 21, 2020 6:21:24 GMT -5
petrushka: Certainly not American style politics. Toxic echo chambers.

petrushka: However, I feel that sexual politics, including political moves that impact the relationships between gender (misogynist, misandrist, etc) definitely deserve room in this context.

fred: just calculated that i've spent somewhere near 19,000 days (& nights) as a "rejectee".AND that allows for 2,000+ days (& nights) on business travel apart from her. i've chosen to "stay" .....would never do that again, and can't as you see doing the math

jerri: Yuk on the plucking chicken feathers. If a chicken doesn't get sex and intimacy she just finds a beautiful cock sooner or later. I'd say there's a much higher "philandering" rate than anyone would care to admit. The rooster who is tormented findsa chicken!

petrushka: Well WE are getting closer to summer. Just passed Equinox. I expect the solar panels will start paying for themselves again in the near future. (over the last few months they have merely mitigated the power bills).
