I've been suffering with plantar fasciitis and ankle tendonitis for a while. Couldn't run, could barely walk sometimes. I went to a podiatrist who advised rest, rest, rest - basically saying if I didn't rest it would never get better. Well, I TRIED. But it's hard when you live in a big city to not walk at all. And I like walking and being out and about, so mentally it was tough, too. So I blamed myself for not resting enough.
Well, after a year of basically getting less fit and more fat because of inactivity but still being in pain, I started to throw money at the problem - and went to see a sports masseur and physiotherapist. I've been doing it since October.
Yesterday I took my son to rugby at an away match, even I though I love it - that used to be misery because I'd be in absolute agony after being on my feet for a couple of hours. Ok, I had a bit twinge after that time - but when the referee handed me the flag - I thought - yeah, I can run the line. And I did. At this age it's a 40 minute match. I wasn't able to keep up with the kid who looked 16 and not 12, but he ran straight and our team never managed to get him into touch anyway (couldn't catch him) so it didn't matter.
My son's team lost 16-2, but I won.
I don't feel confident enough to run on pavement yet, but I did run the line... YAAAAY.

I hear stories from several friends about their minor plantar fasciitis. I even had a week or so of something similar.
It is so good to hear about how your condition improved.
One of my friends told me getting older is not for sissies and it takes a bunch of internal fortitude to endure and prosper in our mature years.
