There is nothing wrong with silicone based lubes. We've used überlube before, and I have no complaints. My personal preference is coconut oil.

I hear coconut oil is good for lots of things, if a person does not have a reaction to it.
Not gynecologist agree coconut oil is the best for the area.

I like coconut oil as well. The solid to liquid warm up can be very seductive.

Pretty sure this post should be retitled: The Official Lube Thread.

Pretty sure this post should be retitled: The Official Lube Thread. Have you tried having someone slowly melt it on your nipples?

In addition to lubes does any woman have a over the counter or Rx vaginal atrophy or menopausal cream that works for them?
Some of us dudes have female partners that need some help. It feels like we are fighting a no-win battle. We want to be considerate of our respective partner's comfort level but still want to have sex and all that goes with it like making out and feeling emotionally close to someone we hoped to have that special connection.

I dont have a prescription for it, but I've read up a lot on vaginal hormonal creams and they sound promising. Estrace is the cream I've heard the most about, but there are numerous ones out there.
The reason I haven't gotten a prescription yet is because my doctor insisted I have a colonoscopy before she'll give me a prescription for anything. Somehow it just hasn't risen to the top of my agenda yet.
There is a slightly elevated risk of certain cancers with these creams, but I understand the risk is very minimal from what I've read if you use the right hormone combo for your situation. Basically, i think one type is better for women who have an intact uterus and the other kind is better for women who have had hysterectomies.
As soon as I get up the gumption to do the colonoscopy, I'm going to get the appropriate hormonal vaginal cream because who wants vaginal atrophy? It's like, next stop, death! Ugh. How depressing.
Of course oral hormones are available too, but I think those are generally viewed as being a little bit more risky, though still not horribly risky. I'm not a doctor. Your wife needs to go to a doctor. That's the big thing. I mean she has to be willing to do that.
Also, there's a ton of information information about this stuff available on medline.gov too. Peer reviewed studies about safety and efficacy. Check it out.

AH, a prescription! That creates a problem for my W. She can't use anything with any hormones in it, that is why I asked about over the counter creams or whatever.
My W was on Tamoxifen, sold under the brand name Nolvadex among others, is a medication that is used to prevent breast cancer in women and treat breast cancer in women and men. It is also being studied for other types of cancer. Tamoxifen is typically taken daily by mouth for five years for breast cancer.
Right now my W is using something the size of an aspirin tablet inserted 1 or 2 times a week that contains a very low dose of a hormone she wasn't suppose to take but things got so uncomfortable for her, she decided to go for the lowest dose of a hormone possible.
This happened well after the sex stopped. I have read that for some women regular sex helps the vaginal lining stay elastic. I noticed the longer we didn't have sex, the tighter she got. It can be the old "use it or lose it"
I bought her coconut oil and it helps some. She has tried virgin olive oil and grape seed oil but the coconut oil works a little better but still falls short of adequate relief.[/b]

Even non penile penetrative sex like fingers or toys along with external stimulation could help, since it stimulates blood flow.

I agree but she isn't willing. It is something I don't control. I bought my W a rabbit but she quit using it after a couple of months and wouldn't allow me to be in the room when she did occasionally use it. It wasn't used for many months so I took the batteries out of the rabbit after talking with my W. I bought the Hitachi wand and she used it a couple of times, wouldn't agree to a small clit vibrator, Said a vibrating cock ring didn't do anything for her. I could see I was heading for a brick wall so I gave up. This was several years ago.
I was wondering about creams or lubes IF I ever met someone, that most likely also did not have sex for several months. I can imagine women my age need a little more than a common or silicone lube.
