I like the natural look on men. That being said, I prefer chest hair. Contrast of textures and all.
If a man is natually nonhairy, that's fine too. What I don't like is that "waxed" look on the chest. That's fine for swimmers, divers and bodybuilders, but not regular men.
Back hair, is a very different story. If he has excessive amounts of back hair - I will either shave it for him, or schedule a spa day for him to have it waxed off.
Robin Williams was awesome, hysterically funny and smart as a whip. His hairy back, not so much.

You didn't ask, but I'll include my preference for well-groomed, trimmed back or shaved bush, SweepyBear

Smooth as a baby's bottom is my personal male beauty ideal for chest and back and butt (yes, some of you are hairy beasties indeed!). That's the perfect fantasy.
However, back in the real world, there are equally stringent (maybe more so) standards for female beauty and if the male is relaxed about his expectations for women, I can be relaxed too, and ask only that the hair be trimmed if it's unruly and that the hair be trimmed so it doesn't stick up out of shirts (haven't seen this much, but I do have an older neighbor (70ish) with chest hair spilling out his shirt, and nose and ear hair apparently never trimmed. ~*shudder*)
It's really all about the man. If I like him and he's overall well-groomed, it doesn't have much bearing on my feelings for him or attraction to him. Minor, minor details.

LOL. I have to appreciate the preferences, yet at the same time accept that I'm going to fall short of many.
While I'm far from Wookie (whew!), wholesale alterations would be a tall task and more commitment than could be upheld. ;-) 'tis the downside of being "beard enabled". Focused manscaping is a much more attainable goal!

There is (almost) nothing finer in the world than feeling a woman absentmindedly scratching her fingers lightly on my chest and give little tugs on my (not thick, but there) chest hair after a nice, long session of wildly abandoned love making. Enjoying the feeling of the different textures between my chest hair and my warm, if not hot, skin. Especially if those little tugs elicit a response from me, leading said lady to start to tease me further by tugging with more intent with an ornery gleam in her eye, knowing that when she gets too carried away.....it's game on.....round two! I'm not shaving or waxing it.....ever

If a man takes that much time to shave/wax his chest he's probably spending more time on his grooming than I do. I don't understand the appeal or need. Unless you're the Rock. Then, OK!!!
