I didn't think everything was great bar the sex, but right or wrong, I would have been willing to put up with a lot of his crap if the intimacy had been there. You can overlook a lot if you feel loved and valued. Me too. All was NOT great bar the sex. Life had its problems. But for me, anyway, good sex on a regular basis can make up for some problems. So, I voted yes.

The way I see it, lack of sex is a glaring symptom of a bigger problem. It's that the partner is neglectful, selfish, abusive... and whatever other things are.

I voted no; not having sex was a huge reason I left, but not the primary one. He made me feel small and stupid too often, saying things to me that undermined my sense of self, my self confidence. We lived like roommates for a decade, my role seemed to change from wife to housekeeper/cook/social planner. Not a marriage in any sense, and he did not understand why I was so unhappy when he was perfectly content to live like that forever. Wow, this is a mirror image of my marriage Im not alone. Bittersweet to hear

I vote yes- sex was the major problem. The sexlessness caused a downward spiral in our basic relationship. So in my case it is true that everything was decidedly NOT good bar the sex, it was the sexlessness that started the downward spiral and maintained it.
And in my case monthly would not have been nearly enough. It was enough to give me a steady diet of resentment sex. Nothing else. It was probably me that precipitated the celibacy that lasted over 10 years. I stopped asking and she never ever offered until I made it clear I was headed out the door

I should add that in my case sex was the initial deal breaking problem. Once the marriage quickly went to shit (perhaps as early as the honeymoon) defining what was The Major Problem was just a head game
