Because it was free with her insurance, I suppose? She got one of those copper IUDs implanted last week. I asked her why, and she says because I don't like messing with condoms. True, I'm no fan of condoms because they hurt and they dull sensation, but...we don't have sex. A box of condoms will last me until they expire, literally. But she gets the thing and feels terrible for about a week. She informed me that the doctor advised her against having sex for a week. HAHAHAHAHA!! A week? We'll do you better than that, doc; we'll make it 5 months just to be safe.

Does it make sense? NO!
Does a SM make sense? NO! Sex is a big reason WHY we get married!
Sounds like fear issues mixed with a controlling attitude.

Does she think you have an active sex life? I feel like she has serious delusions from what you have shared.

My paranoid mind thinks she has a boy friend that will not use condoms.

It's odd that she got the copper version. I would have thought one of the hormonal versions so she could avoid having a period or at least reduce the severity.

Must admit that I am struggling to see the significance of Mrs deadzone75 's choice to get an IUD. It doesn't appear likely to have any effect on your ILIASM situation. Rather, it is just a matter of her exercising her right of choice.

My sexless marriage was briefly sexy after I got fixed. I theorized that, finally, my wife could relax because there was no more fear of pregnancy. Sex skyrocked up to a frequency of two to three times a week, then decayed back down to nothing.
Maybe once the doctor ok's it, you will see a similar spike.

I guess there is no downside to it for me. If by some miracle she wants more sex, great; if not, no real difference to me.

The one benefit of Copper IUDs over hormonal IUDs is they are effective immediately and can even be used as a "plan B". Did she have any missing time gaps over the 5 days prior to having it inserted?
When the wife was looking at an IUD, the Dr said to wait 7 days for the hormonal before having sex. She could have seen immediately after having the copper inserted, but the discomfort and pain would likely have her not interested for a few days.

Even if sexual intercourse is rare, some people have an over whelming fear of pregnancy and all the work for the next 22 years getting knocked up entails. I do not find it odd that even though sex rarely happens that a woman or man dreading another pregnancy would go for something at least mostly reliable in the birth control arena. I might not even trust an IUD without some secondary or back-up BC.
deadzone75, give it a few weeks before you solidify any conclusions. There might be a slim chance the sexual frequency might increase but don't cont on anything now.

Just out of interest Brother deadzone75 , who has hither-to been taking responsibility for birth control in your deal ? For the first several years she took the pill, but complained that it had side effects. So I eventually told her it was ridiculous to keep taking the pill since we never had sex anyway (the comment was both a dig and a concern for her well-being), which is when we switched to condoms. I suppose she could have a sudden heightened fear of pregnancy, as some have suggested, but it just seems a lot out-of-the-blue.

But she actually pushed the appt. back by a week due to her work schedule, so not likely a Plan B deal.
