I’ll fill in for sadkat today! As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Is that what you’re doing? I grew up riding along with my grandfather to the firehouse. He was the chief, and he commanded the room when he walked in. Even at a young age,I could see the respect the men gave him when he walked in the firehouse. He was and is still highly respected among the firemen in my hometown. I wanted to be like him. I learned a lot about integrity and respect from him. Fast forward to today,I drill water wells for homes and businesses. It’s messy, muddy and always wet.(not a lot of fun when it’s 35 degrees outside.)

Actually I am doing exactly what my childhood ambition was and yes, after 30 years in the profession I would make the same choice again despite some tricky moments and more wonderful times.

Growing up I wanted to be a “Broadway Star” haha
Ummm no, that’s not what I’m doing 😆
But I also wanted to be a Mom and that part came true.

Hay, I like to see "puppy love" happening if the people are over 21, have a decent job and are honest with each other.

I enjoy reading about choosinghappy and tirefire. It shines light and gives hope for us still walking through the dark tunnel towards the SM exit.

When I was growing up, I dreamed about being a nurse. Although I did end up working in the healthcare field, it was not as a nurse.

I wanted to build things. I should have gotten an engineering degree but I went to work at age 17 as a necessity. Fixing things paid the bills.

I’ll fill in for sadkat today! As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Is that what you’re doing? I wanted to join the military. I have many family members who served or are currently serving. Sadly, I couldn't for health reasons. They wouldn't take me.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Is that what you’re doing? I always loved learning how things work. I was working on cars before I could drive. So yes -it is what I'm doing. I just wish someone told me that I'd have to deal with customers and insurance companies and that the cars themselves would take all the fun out of driving.
Bastards.

The first service manual I bought was about $20 and now some cost $300. The high end testing/diagnostic tools, are out of this world. Thank goodness for the knock-off test instruments.
I took things apart to see how they were made or how they worked ever since 1st grade. Some didn't go back together and some did. I still take things apart before throwing out some things. I believe in life long learning on many levels.
With the Internet, recently I read about the last 500 years of history of Stralia (Australia) especially Tasmania, India, and South East Asia.
