My wife gets the AARP magazine.
I am very pissed off with myself that I find it far more interesting to read than Entertainment Weekly.

There's been 51 responders thus far (16th Jul 2018)
00.00% - are 20 to 30 15.69% - are 30 to 40 47.06% - are 40 to 50 23.53% - are 50 to 60 13.73% - are 60 plus.
Speculation The 20 to 30 lot are, due to lack of experience, unaware that their deal is in trouble and there's very few in this ILIASM group. The 30 to 40 lot are catching a clue that their deal is in trouble. The 40 to 50 lot are very aware that their deal is in trouble and in instances are parting company. The 50 to 60 lot have parted company, or have given up on any idea of parting. The 60 plus fossils are for the most part divorced.

There's been 51 responders thus far (16th Jul 2018) It seems like a bell curve... On one end, you’re still blind or in denial; at the other end you’re either resolved or resigned. In the middle is a big spike of enlightenment, where you realize the severity of the situation and panicking for a solution. A bit like stumbling into quicksand. And a lot like the 5 stages of grief.

DryCreek I hope the Universe finds mercy for those of us who gutted it out and missed the age parameters for the "Spike of Enlightenment" years. It might have increased my odds of getting "nailed" again before death! 😩😉

I guess I'm a late bloomer, acting like a 40-something

Overall that sounds pretty accurate baza but there are certainly exceptions to that assessment: Near the front of the bell curve there’s me: I’m in my 30s and in the process of leaving. And towards the end of the curve there’s people like ironhamster, tirefire, shynjdude who are all in their 50s and are in the process of leaving. There may be more examples. And with a sample size of only 50, that might be significant enough to challenge that speculation of yours.

I was 39 when I Divorced. At that time, I just recalled my dad, in his 40s saying to my mom, "These are the best years of our life, let's enjoy them." I wasn't enjoying them at that age, so I made a change. (Of course that change was made with all the soul searching and why chasing we see here, so I'm not pretending it was easy, but that attitude was an influence). Thanks, Dad! He died at age 63 from a sudden, massive heart attack. He lived till he died - that's what I want for my life. Be alive while you are living.
