My marriage is not a tragedy. It's more like a romantic comedy without the romance

I'm wondering if there is - or if there should be - some sort of visual indicator that we in the ILIASM community can wear that would help us identify one another "in the wild". The only example I can think of is (so I am told) some members of the swinging community apparently wear black rings on their right index finger. Although our community couldn't have less in common with theirs, it might still be nice to be able to spot one another.
Any thoughts or ideas?

You mean the dead-eyed look of absolute despair isn't enough?

Probably, if you are a student of body language, you don't need a marker / secret handshake etc.
If you see a wedding ring on a person, plus a mournful expression on their face, slumped over stance, looking daggers at any couples holding hands, an air of resignation hovering about them, well, you've probably found someone in a dysfunctional marriage - who may or may not be an ILIASM member. So probably, when you sight someone exhibiting as above, you ought yell out "ILLYAZAMMM !!!!!" ...and see what happens.

I always thought a black piece of yarn on a wedding ring would work. To signify you live in a dead marriage.

A black ring on the right hand could signify a swinger, or an asexual. Who knows who will win that one.
I like the idea of black yarn. It is kind of like wrapping a string around your finger as a reminder.

We do. It's called a wedding ring! LOL. At some point, when I was ready to call the time of death, I took off my wedding ring.

I suppose a "Victim of SM" shirt would be too obvious?

Apart from jokes, we probably can have a competition and submit our designs... wooden ring? Cork bracelet? Either made in one solid piece without any decoration? Silver bracelet or ring made in a shape (or ingraved) of fish bone...

Maybe a chastity belt hat? Wouldn't do much for keeping the sun off your face, but I think people would get the message.

I took off my wedding ring about seven (?) years ago. Husband never asked why.
